Reports To: Executive Director

Time Commitment:

Full time, exempt position, 32-40 hours/week (negotiable) including some evenings and weekends. Flexible work schedule.


This position is responsible for working with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Fundraising and PR Committee for planning and coordinating all aspects of fund development and public relations for Habitat for Humanity of Carroll County.

Provide leadership on all fundraising initiatives including:

Annual Fundraising and PR Plan

Grant Writing

Special Events

Major Gifts

Planned Giving


Donor Cultivation

Identify, organize, and manage the fundraising activities of the affiliate with a focus on new opportunities to obtain ongoing and increased support from corporations, public and private organizations, faith communities, and individuals.


  • A./B.S. preferred with an emphasis or concentration in business, marketing, public relations or related field
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Two – five years professional development and fund raising experience or similar experience
  • Grant research and writing experience
  • Ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge, and supervise volunteers
  • PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Donor database experience desirable)
  • Desire to work as part of a team and willingness to promote the principles and views of Habitat for Humanity
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience


Oversee all aspects of Development Department, including developing the annual development plan, which includes but is not limited to:

  • House and other sponsorships
  • Direct mail
  • Individual fundraising campaigns or events
  • Grant research and writing
  • Volunteer management
  • Fundraising special events
  • Donor Recognition
  • Newsletter publication
  • Web site and social media maintenance
  • House Sponsor volunteer coordination
  • Donor Cultivation Plan creation and implementation
  • Planned giving
  • Government and other grant writing
  • Information systems on all donors
  • Reporting to various granting agencies
  • Overall agency database maintenance
  • Frequent speaking engagements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
